About Anaphylaxis
3-4 Million Americans are at risk of having an
anaphylactic reaction. Approximately 2,000 fatal
reactions occur each year. Clinicians need to be
aware of the most common causes of anaphylaxis in
order to adequately treat them. This educational
activity is designed to provide up to date guidelines
for the evaluation and treatment of Anaphylaxis
thereby decreasing the number of deaths that occur
each year due to anaphylactic reactions.
Course Objectives
- To acquaint the participant with the pathophysiologic events involved in the production of anaphylactic events
- To familiarize the attendee with the mediators responsible for anaphylactic episodes
- After attending this lecture the participant will be able to differentiate anaphylaxis from those problems that mimic this condition
- To acquaint the attendee with measures to prevent anaphylactic episodes
- After attending the participant wil be able to treat anaphylaxis employing the latest evidenced based principles
